For three months, fans of the second season of The Bachelor SA were glued to their screens watching hunky model and businessman Marc Buckner (36) and beautiful speech therapist Marisia van Wyk (24) find their way to each other. But now, that journey seems to have come to an end.

Marisia, snug in a black jacket and smiling brightly in a new Instagram pic, looks like she doesn’t have a care in the world. But the caption makes it clear she and Marc have gone their separate ways.

“And the day I put my hand in yours, I’ll stow away my road maps in the knowledge that my search for you has ended. You are somewhere. #KnowYourWorth #NotSettling #NotGivingUpLoveJustYet #ReadyForCommitment #Ready #Respect #Love #Resilience”

For his part, Marc is giving nothing away on social media. The latest picture he posted on Instagram features him sweaty after a solo workout session, punting a fitness watch.

One of the first people to react to Marisia’s Instagram pic is Jozaan Digue, who was a contestant in the first season of The Bachelor SA. “You’ll find the joy you deserve, my love!” she comments.

“My friend, I know for a fact that God has the perfect man in store for you,” another friend writes.

After Marc had chosen Marisia in the final episode of The Bachelor, viewers learnt Marisia had relocated from Johannesburg to spend lockdown with Marc in his luxury Cape Town apartment.

Most fans of the show believed they were a perfect fit and many were hoping for wedding bells.

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

Marc seems to be in shock. “I didn’t see the Instagram post,” he told YOU. “She’s blocked me. I can’t talk about this now. I have a lot to process.”
