It’s been a year since the former Proteas cricket captain Graeme Smith announced his engagement to Romy Lanfranchi. Now, the big day has finally arrived.
Graeme (38) said on Instagram the wedding is Saturday – the same day as the World Cup Rugby final in which the Springboks will be facing off against England in Yokohama, Japan, to be crowned champions of the tournament.
Graeme shared a picture on Wednesday with his 239 000 followers of him and Romy embraced in a hug. He captioned it “3 sleeps”, with a ring and a heart emoji.
Romy (36) commented on the post: “Can’t wait, my love.”
Romy, a lawyer, had her kitchen tea about a week ago and she’s practically glowing with happiness. She posted pics of the event on Instagram and thanked all the women in her life who contributed.
In 2016, Romy told the media she was completely bowled out when she first met Graeme because he’s so down-to-earth.
Mutual friends introduced them to each other.
“He’s a stable person and we have the same values and interests,” Romy said.
The couple, who’ve been together since 2016, have a two-year-old son, Sebastien.
Both of them have children from previous marriages. Romy has two young sons with her late husband, Michel Lanfranchi.
Graeme’s ex-wife, Irish pop singer Morgan Deane, is the mother of his other two children, Cadence (7) and Carter (6).
Graeme and Morgan were official divorced in March 2017 after a marriage of nearly six years.
