Cape Town - An attempt to put his daughter to bed ended in a broken toe for Ashton Kutcher.

The 41-year-old star and his wife, actress Mila Kunis, were in bed when their four-year-old daughter, Wyatt, jumped in to join them.

Ashton’s leg had gone to sleep and when he got up to take Wyatt back to her own bed, he stood on it, PEOPLE reported.

"I’m supposed to take her back [to bed], but I like scooping her up," Ashton recalls of the incident during a recent interview on LIVE Kelly and Ryan.

"So she comes in and I’m like, 'Okay, I’m either going to get 15 minutes of hell from my daughter right now or 15 minutes of hell from Mila in the morning' – because we’re trying to get her to sleep in her bed."

Without realising that his leg had fallen asleep, the father-of-two got out of bed, "And I go to take a step, and I just go down," he explained.

He asked Mila to help with Wyatt.

"And so she [Mila] comes around and she takes [Wyatt] to bed, and I don’t want to turn the lights on because I’m afraid of what I’m gonna see."

Eventually, the No Strings Attached star worked up the courage to switch on the lights only to see his toe pointing the wrong way.

"It’s three in the morning, and I don’t want to go to urgent care or one of these things, so I do the Mel Gibson Lethal Weapon thing and just kinda put it back on."

He then goes on to say how impressed Mila was with him fixing his own toe, ET reports.

"And Mila’s like, 'That’s the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen you do.'" He says he responded with, "I’ll break my toe for you every night, babe."
