Cape Town - Even Prince Harry can’t stay away from Nando’s.
Both Prince Harry and Prince William have recently revealed that they love to indulge in Nando’s from time-to-time.
The Duke of Sussex, who has visited the South African restaurant numerous time, was reportedly introduced to the fast-food chain a few years ago by his protection officer, Mirror reports.
According to witnesses, when the prince visited the chain at midnight in 2013 he placed an order that won’t sit well with the peri-peri chicken lovers.
The 34-year-old reportedly spent £24,05 (around R436, 45) on his takeaway for him and a friend and ordered a lemon and herb pitta with extra cheese and a side of creamy mash, along with a double chicken wrap with chips, Daily Express reports.
He also grabbed a fizzy drink along with a bottle of water.
"It was surreal," one customer revealed. "He was very charming and politely refused a member of staff who approached him for a picture. I was gobsmacked to see him."
"Moments after he left the restaurant clutching his dinner in a paper bag a member of staff jumped on the bench Harry was sitting on and shouted: 'I’m on the Prince’s throne!' Nobody could believe what happened," another person revealed.
Customers were rather disappointed by his order as the lemon and herb sauce was pretty bland compared to the fast-food chain's popular peri-peri sauce.
Harry isn’t the only royal who loves Nandos.
Recently, the Duke of Cambridge told the South African co-founder of the restaurant chain, Robert Brozin, that he’s a huge fan after being introduced to it by his police protection officer, Hello Magazine reports.
"This man [his protection officer], here, is your biggest fan. He’s introduced me to Nando’s. It’s very good. He should buy a stake in Nando’s," the prince reportedly told Robert.
"I'm not surprised he's eaten at Nando's," Robert went on to say.
"The beauty of Prince Harry and Prince William is that they're really accessible and they’re guys who go out a lot – I'm very happy that they've tried it.
"I was certain they would have tried it because they're people's people, which is so nice."
