Cape Town - While presenting an award at the Emmys on Sunday evening, Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner were laughed at by the audience after claiming their reality show is "real" and "unscripted".

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians stars took to the stage to present the award for outstanding competition series but barely got through their first line before the audience erupted in what seemed to be sniggers, Entertainment Tonight reports.

"Our family knows first-hand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves, telling their stories, unfiltered and unscripted," Kim told the crowd.

It was at this point that the audience started cracking up but Kim and Kendall continued presenting straight-faced, ELLE reports.

Twitter noticed the awkward moment and soon people began tweeting about it, Sun UK reports.

"The crowd's reaction to Kim Kardashian saying reality shows were just ‘real people living their lives unscripted’ could not have been more perfect. #unscriptedlaughter #emmys," one user wrote.

"The entire room cackling at Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner when they presented outstanding competition programme is a whole mood. They really set them up with their lines about being ‘unscripted’ and stuff, didn't they? #Emmys," another added.

Despite the awkward moment, the famous siblings carried on to present the award to RuPaul for his show, RuPaul’s Drag Race.
