My ex-husband and I divorced 30 years ago because he became abusive and our relationship was destructive. We were only married for two years.

He went to the border, was shot at, traumatised and came back a changed man. That was why we got divorced – because he came back with PTSD and became abusive.

Since then he’s had a chequered life. He got mar­ried three more times and has now eventually ended up in a retirement village and divorced for the fourth time.
