A 12-year-old boy from Alberta, Canada, made an exciting discovery while on a hike with his dad.

Nathan Hrushkin and his dad, Dion, saw small fossil pieces as early as last year and Dion guessed the pieces broke off an overhanging rock in the canyon where they were walking. So this year Nathan decided to take a closer look – which was when he spotted uncovered bone fossils on a hillside.

Father and son notified the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta, sending photos of their find along with the GPS coordinates of the location.
