Helicopters waterbombed the flames and firefighters battled for days to contain the runaway fire that broke out on Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) last month.
Fanned by scorching hot winds, the flames raced across the slopes of the mountain, destroying the popular restaurant at Rhodes Memorial as well as the iconic Mostert’s Mill, the oldest working mill in the country. The fire ripped through more than 200 hectares (that’s more than 500 rugby fields) of vegetation, including fynbos.
