The 23-year-old Japanborn star, who is currently ranked No 2 on the world tennis ratings, recently decided to drop out of the French Open. The event in Paris is one of four Grand Slams, the biggest tennis tournaments in the world.

At the end of each game, players are required to face members of the media from around the world in the traditional postmatch media conference.

Naomi refused after winning her opening game and was fined $15 000 (R203 000) for breaking tournament rules. She explained she suffered from anxiety and depression and that facing the media heightened her mental-health issues.
