The social-media app TikTok has been in the news for weeks now after American president Donald Trump threatened to ban it unless it was sold to an American company. 

The story so far  

Trump wants video-sharing app TikTok and chat app WeChat, which are both owned by Chinese companies, to be banned in the US. He believes TikTok is a threat to American security because ByteDance (the company that owns the app) has ties with the Chinese government.
