I’ve baked this for a braai and picnic we had on the mountain on our family farm. You can keep the bread in the tin – just wrap it in a cloth. Put the cheese in tinfoil and heat over the coals for a few minutes until melted, then serve with the garlic buns. If your time is limited, use store-bought bread dough.

Preheat the oven to 190°C

1. Mix the flour, salt, instant yeast and castor sugar in a bowl. Add enough warm water to form a thick dough. Knead until smooth and elastic, cover the bowl and let it rise in a warm place until double the volume.
