This is a speedy and easy dinner. Replace the rib-eye steak with any cut of beef or other meat of your choice. The aromatic potato hash with the smoky flavour of the bacon is a great side dish. For a spicier version, replace the bacon with chorizo.

Preheat the oven to 200 °C.

1. Place the potatoes in a roasting pan, drizzle with olive oil and toss. Add the bacon, garlic and thyme. Season with salt and pepper, and toss again. Roast for 20-30 minutes.
