Thanks to Covid-19, many more people have had to submit claims on funeral policies.

Last year the South African life-insurance industry received 434 216 death claims – considerably more than the 317 442 claims received in 2019.

More than half of the death claims in 2020 were on funeral policies (266 321) with the rest consisting mostly of claims for credit insurance and life insurance.
