With a staggering 11 003 holes in her skin, this Brazilian woman holds the record for most body piercings in the world.
Elaine Davidson had her first piercing in 1997 and just three years later she would claim the Guinness World Record for the most body piercings on a woman. At the time she had 462 piercings on her body with 192 of those located on her face.
Elaine’s face and body are almost entirely covered in tattoos and piercings. In addition to her love for piercings, she is driven by the desire to keep her world record.
“To break the record you have to get to a high level. I wanted to break the record,” she said in 2009. Subsequently, each year she gradually increases the number of piercings on her body.
Elaine added perhaps her most important ring to her collection in 2011 when she got married to Douglas Watson who – from wedding photos – appears to have no visible piercings. The couple is understood to be living in Scotland.
At a counting in 2012, Elaine had amassed a total of 9 000 body and face piercings and by January 2019, she had climbed to 11 000. Asked what she loves most about the piercings, Elaine’s response was simple.
“Because they’re beautiful, they’re shiny, they make me excited and they make people look at me, a special woman,” she told Guinness World Records.

Elaine’s colourful face and body are matched only by her personality. The 53-year-old is a martial arts expert with a black belt in Judo, which she earned in Japan.
She also loves sky diving and horse riding, is a fortune teller and tarot card reader and performs in circuses around the world. Her most notable acts are sleeping on a bed of glass and walking through fire.
Other body modification fanatics around the world include German Rolf Buchholz who has more than 400 piercings and holds the Guinness World Record for the most piercings on a man.
Behind him is alarmingly tattooed Mexican lawyer María José Cristerna who earned the Guinness World Record for the most body modifications with a total of 49.
