Not since Donald Trump’s reality TV heyday has anyone seemed to relish saying “you’re fired!” as much as Chelsea's owner Roman Abramovich, who has hired and fired a procession of managers – with Frank Lampard as the latest victim of the oligarch’s brutal boot. The London glamour club has had no fewer than 13 managers in 18 years and only three – Ray Wilkins, Guus Hiddink and Rafael Benitez – weren’t given the sack. They were interim managers, filling the gap until a full-time appointment was made. Those who were sent packing however, left with bulging pockets – because while Roman may be ruthless and relentless, he’s also rich and willing to pay millions if things don’t go his way.
