He was one of the top dogs of the tennis world – Boom Boom Boris with his big serve and bright red head, gathering trophy after trophy and banking a fortune that could make your eyes water.

But the figure Boris Becker cut outside court recently was rather different to the days when Wimbledon was his playground and everyone wanted a piece of him.

Now, puffy-eyed and unsmiling, the 54-year-old wunderkind is clearly bearing the burdens he carries.
