Dive into Dubai's dazzling underwater city in the world's deepest swimming pool

Dubai is home to many things – huge shopping malls, towering skyscrapers, ultra-luxurious hotels and acres of desert under a dazzling sun. Now the city in the heart of the United Arab Emirates can add another notch to its belt of attractions: the deepest swimming pool in the world. 

Deep Dive Dubai, as it’s called, isn’t only mind-bogglingly deep – its depths also contain an entire submerged city, complete with an abandoned apartment block, graffiti on the walls of buildings, cars, bicycles, a library and even an arcade with a working table-top football game.

The pool is four times larger than other diving pool on Earth, has a depth of 60m – equivalent to the height of a 20-storey building – and is filled with 14 million litres of fresh water. Last month it received the Guinness World Record for “deepest swimming pool for diving”, beating the previous recordholder, the DeepSpot in Poland, by 15m.
