Almost four years ago, Nikole Mitchell decided to pack up her pulpit and step down from her duties as pastor at a church in Ohio, USA.
It was time for a career change, she thought – one that would allow her to stay true to herself with the freedom of being more sexy, raunchy and daring.
And it seems to have paid off, as life got a whole lot more rewarding for the mom of three, who has been managing to take home almost R500,000 a month from showing off her assets and selling her content online.
Nikole now describes herself as a “pastor-turned-stripper / life coach / model” on her Instagram page and admits to raking in big bucks, as followers and fans can subscribe to see her X-rated content on subscription-based adult website OnlyFans.
“I’ve always been part of the church, loved the church and loved my people,” she says. “I did everything I could to fulfil my leadership calling in the church, until I could no longer fit there and the fullness of who I was wasn’t welcomed.”
It was after coming out as queer on a YouTube video and divorcing her husband, John, that the 36-year-old, who was brought up in a strict Baptist family, made the choice to ditch her religious background and leadership role.
She was no longer accepted by the congregation and with the full backing of her ex, who she says is a “beautiful soul”, she decided to explore and express herself in new ways.
“I knew he would be the one person who would understand and support me so he was the first person I told,” she said on a UK talk show recently. “I decided to finally step into the unknown and see where it would lead me.”
Nikole shares several risqué pictures of herself in barely there outfits with over 140 000 followers on Instagram, all captioned with positive messages to cheer on anyone who might need a “butt” in the right direction.
She’s also posted screenshots of her hefty earnings from OnlyFans as motivation for her followers. “This is the power of choosing to believe, create, lead... and not stopping until you get what you want,” she says in the post.
Nikole, who now lives in California, admits that while she might have left the church in her rear-view mirror and has lost a few people along the way, she’s decided to trust the “calling of her life” and inspire people to follow theirs.
She also hosts life-coaching and teaching sessions and now makes more in a month than she did in a year at her old job.
“This is why a lot of people come to me [as a life coach]. They see me do this hard pivot from one career to an extreme different direction and they think, ‘If Nikole can do that, then surely I can do what my heart is calling me to do’.”
