The fashion world might have just found its next superstar in Kaia Aragon – but they’re going to have to wait until she finishes school.
Nine-year-old Kaia is still in primary school but her original designs have caused such a stir on social media, they’ve even caught the eye of fashion designer Vera Wang.
If that’s not enough to blow your socks off, the preteen from Colorado in the US has only been sewing for a few months.
Kaia’s career started last Christmas when her mom gave her a dressmaker’s mannequin.
Right away she grabbed a piece of fabric, went into her room, sewed it together and turned out her own design.

“It kind of blew my mind,” says her mother, Tonya.
“I thought the dressmaker’s mannequin was for decoration. I didn’t know she was actually going to use it.”
But looking back, Tonya says her daughter has always had a flair for fashion and was very meticulous about her style from the time she was allowed to dress herself.
“She would always go over the top with accessories and she would mix and match things that didn’t make sense to me but would make sense after she put it on,” she says.
Now the young fashionista is getting noticed in the fashion world.
After her mother shared some of her designs on TikTok, Kaia has gained over 580 000 followers, 22,6 million likes and a celebrity fan.
Wang, who is famed for her gorgeous wedding dresses, commented on one of her TikTok videos and later sent Kaia a handwritten note along with a purple backpack.
“So excited to see you are already pursuing your dream of becoming a fashion designer! Congratulations and all good luck,” Wang signed the note.

For Kaia, making clothes is about more than looking cool.
“I love that, depending on what you’re wearing, it can make you feel confident and brave,” she says.
She now dreams of starting her own fashion business with her siblings and friends.
“My friends and my big sister would be the designers, because that’s what we want to do, and then my brother said he would do the hair for our company,” she says.
But the youngster still has a long way to go before you’ll see her designs on the runway capitals of the world.
“Right now, I’m just doing this for fun.”
