TikTok provides hours of entertainment for millions of users worldwide, but now the social media app has helped the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) nab an armed robber.

Chozen Terell-Hannah, who goes by the name ChozenWrld on Tiktok, was arrested after sneakers he’d worn in his videos were linked to four armed robberies.

The first robbery took place in December when a man wearing an all-black outfit robbed a convenience store at gunpoint in Detroit, in the US.

Three more robberies were committed by a similarly dressed figure over the next three months.

During the last robbery, however, witnesses saw pink hair under the robber’s mask.

Police were already investigating the case when they were handed an anonymous tip-off that led to the popular TikTok account, ChozenWrld, which has more than 140 000 followers.

In the videos he posted online, Chozen (22) is frequently seen singing and dancing.

In one video he sports pink hair and white Nike sneakers, which turned out to be the smoking guns in the investigation.

The shoes were found to be similar to those worn by the robber during all four crimes.

This allowed FBI investigators to secure a warrant to track Chozen’s phone location history.

His phone’s location at the time of robberies was found to be in line with the locations of the robberies.

With evidence mounting, investigators raided his house last month where they found a handgun and other items that were used in during the crimes.

Chozen was arrested and has since confessed to the crime spree.

He’s been charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during a violent crime and could face up to 20 years behind bars.

And he’s not the only social media influencer who has found themselves on the wrong side of the law.

Last year Damaury Mikula, who boasts more than 4 million followers on TikTok, was arrested for evading the police, reckless driving, and highway racing.

Prior to his arrest he often shared content featuring his beloved Dodge Challenger and was subsequently arrested after a high-speed chase ensued.
