It was called the Love Bug back in the day and for Christiaan Swanepoel the name couldn’t be more perfect. 

There’s nothing he loves more than the good old Volkswagen Beetle and its cool big brother, the VW Kombi. And the more beaten up and battered they are the better.

Since he was just a kid, Christiaan has been lovingly restoring the beloved Volksie with the help of his dad, Pieter. He now has more than 80 Beetles and Kombis on the family’s plot outside Heidelberg in Gauteng, many of them awaiting the TLC that will make them the stuff of dreams again.
