Many of us know that replacing any official documents probably means taking a day off work to stand in queues at home affairs. And the horror stories of standing and waiting for hours only to be told the system is down and you need to come back another day abound.
But now at last it seems home affairs is stepping into the 21st century and introducing a new system that will put an end to this bureaucratic hell. It’s called the Branch Appointment Booking System (BABS) and it allows you to go online to book an appointment to visit a home affairs branch to do an ID or passport renewal. The plan is that you arrive at a specific time and won’t end up waiting for too long. It’s too soon to tell if it will make a major difference.
