It was a horrific accident that left South Africans aghast – a five-year-old boy happily playing on a slide one minute and the next fighting for his life.

After almost being strangled to death when the neck chord of his jacket got caught on the piece of playground equipment at his nursery school in Brakpan, Marno Muller spent 28 days in hospital.

Generous donors across the country opened their wallets to help cover his medical costs.
