Although she was bursting with pride when her son went off to follow his dreams as a game ranger in Limpopo, Jenny Venter (59) couldn’t stop crying. Because 26 years after her husband murdered her two youngest children, her nest was empty once more.

Just before he drove off her son, Jeandré, told her, “Mom, you need to get over it. I’m all grown up now.”
