He's South Africa’s new golden boy – a blade runner and blade jumper with nerves of steel and a heart as big as the smile that dazzled the podium when he accepted not one but two gold medals.

Ntando Mahlangu was one of the triumphs of the Paralympic Games, first breaking a world record by leaping 7,17 m into the sandpit, then flying to the finish line to win the men’s 200m T61 final.

The 19-year-old, proudly displaying the Ndebele cultural pattern on his prosthetics, is humble about his achievements.
