We all know the saying that there are two certainties in life: death and taxes. But if you live in South Africa, there’s another one too: at the flick of a switch – and with barely a warning – Eskom will plunge you into darkness again.
Loadshedding has become a way of life, the norm, something we work around. And although it was cancelled – again – in March, it’s only a matter of time before that dreaded alert pops up again: the energy utility will be implementing rolling blackouts with immediate effect.
And with winter coming and along with an increased demand on supply, chances are we’ll be fumbling about in the dark again before long.
