The elephants are doing it for themselves.

People across the world are practising social distancing in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus during these trying times.

But a group of 14 elephants have decided now's their time to break into a village in Yunan province in China, to nab some corn and other food, Newsweek reports.

A Reddit post on the r/interestingasf**k subreddit showed two male elephants napping after getting drunk on corn wine.

“While humans carry out social distancing, a group of 14 elephants broke into a village in Yunan province, looking for corn and other food. They ended up drinking 30kg of corn wine and got so drunk that they fell asleep in a nearby tea garden,” wrote Reddit user ADarkcid.

The post has since been shared on Twitter, so the masses could share in their drunken delight.

In a separate Twitter thread, conservationist Parveen Kaswan wrote that even elephants like to get a little tipsy and often seek out alcohol in overripe fruit.

Seems we all like a little bit of a nap after a good session.
