It’s said that love knows no boundaries.

And that’s exactly what this elderly couple is proving daily by social distancing with each other at a border post.

Every day Inga Rasmussen (85) drives her Toyota Yaris from Denmark. And Karsten Tüchsen Hansen (89) rides his electric bike from Germany. Their destination is the barrier border between the two countries, New York Times reports.

The elderly couple who have been dating for two years spent much of their time together before, but because of the novel coronavirus lockdowns, they were forced to socially distance in their respective countries – although they live 15 minutes apart.

This was when they came up with the ingenious idea of meeting each other every day at the Mollehusvej border crossing where they sit with each other, joke, chat, and share drinks while practising social distancing.

“We’re here because of love,” Karsten explained. “Love is the best thing in the world.”

The love birds recently turned into a viral sensation after Henrik Frandsen, the mayor of Tønder, a Danish border town, shared a picture of them on Facebook captured while taking a bike ride, PEOPLE reported.

Check out the heartwarming picture of the couple sharing drinks and snacks while social distancing at the border post below.
