The airport, the flight and the sunshine – all inside their home.

A travel-mad family have gone viral after recreating their cancelled Jet2 package holiday at home.

Amanda Stephenson (40) has been isolating at her home in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, with daughters Danielle (22) and Charlotte (17) and their respective boyfriends, Jack Everson-Hough (22) and Callum Roberts (17), since the coronavirus lockdown began.

The family of five, with plans to holiday in Ibiza, used the Easter holiday sunshine to bring their trip to them, travelling just a few metres to “Costa del Wakey”.

Their hilarious viral video has racked up more than 32 000 shares online and sees the gang dressing up as excited travellers, Jet2 staff and airport security guards.

The creative bunch even pretend to board a plane by getting into their white BMW convertible and driving around the cul-de-sac.

“We love going on holiday as a family and we have got a trip to Ibiza booked in August but we don’t know if we will be able to go,” account executive Amanda said.

“So we decided with the lovely weather to bring the holiday to us.

“We’ve got a hot tub in the back garden and I pretended to board a plane in Jack’s white BMW before we drove around the cul-de-sac and came back in.

“I think the neighbours thought we must be losing the plot.

“We just did it as a bit of fun, it was all Danielle’s idea and we were dragged into it.

Dressing up as a Jet2 flight assistant with red lips and a smart skirt-suit ensemble, Danielle checks excited passenger Amanda in before she passes through airport security with Danielle’s fiancé, Jack, as security guard.

The traveller family have already been to several destinations together, including Las Vegas, Disneyland Florida, Amsterdam and Australia.

After setting off to see the globe together in December last year, Danielle and Jack had to cut short their four-month travel plans when the Covid-19 pandemic took hold, forcing them to travel home from Thailand nine days earlier than planned.

But the loved-up couple didn’t return home before they managed to get engaged.

“We're really big on travelling and we were gutted when we had to cut our travels short quite suddenly due to the virus,” Danielle said.

“We felt like our trip didn’t quite end on the high we’d planned and we were forced to get the next possible flight home!

“We're obviously very used to the airport process and it's fair to say we missed it after a lot of flying and we wanted to recreate it at home with all the family.

“It’s been lovely to see people’s reactions.

“Especially to spread joy at this time as we know many people can't go on their holidays and are missing it.”
