This year has been nothing short of interesting, especially when it comes to the videos that took over the internet.

Moments that are meant to last a couple of minutes are immortalised forever on the internet. We’ve rounded up a couple of this year’s viral videos that defined the year that was.

1. The drag into the new year

Captured on the first day of the year, someone witnessed a father dragging his daughter through Dulles International Airport by the hood of her jacket.

According to Mashable, the youngster never screamed nor cried, she was the epitome of chilled out and enjoyed the ride.

2. Dancing from SA to Hollywood

Ivanah Campbell (6) from Port Elizabeth danced her way into hearts across the world when her moves caught the attention of international celebs.

The clip was shared by Will Smith and went on to garner more than 10 million views on his account alone.

3. Dog reacts to a hair clip

Life for a young pup can be ruff as shown in this video of a golden retriever who’s flabbergasted by a black plastic hair clip.

In the video the one-year-old dog jumps around on a bed frightened and confused at the clip, reports The New York Post.

4. Vocal kung fu

The #BottleTopChallenge saw celebs high kick the tops off bottles, but nothing prepared us for Mariah Carey’s rendition.

The songstress tweeted her attempt and instead of using a roundhouse kick, she used her multi-octave voice to pop the bottle cap. Now that’s what we call talent and great editing.

5. Schwarzenegger gets kicked by a fan

While in SA for the Arnold Classic Africa Festival, Arnold Schwarzenegger had an encounter reminiscent of some of his movie fight scenes.

According to The South African, a fan rushed towards him and executed a perfect flying kick on the movie star’s back before security swarmed in and apprehended the culprit.

Although dangerous, the incident didn’t seem to faze Scwharzeneggar as he seemed rather amused after it happened.

6. The greatest show

Upon returning from the America’s Got Talent (AGT) stage, the Ndlovu Youth choir from Limpopo wowed viewers with their cover of The Greatest Show from the film The Greatest Showman.

Their rendition was shared on YouTube and the choir has since been signed by AGT judge Simon Cowell’s record label.

7. Harry and Meghan’s ubuntu in SA

Kickstarting their trip of Southern Africa, Prince Harry and Meghan took the time to share some words of appreciation for the warm welcome they received in South Africa.

Video footage from their introductory speeches was shared across platforms and highlighted the significant challenges facing South Africans and the hope they believe exists here.
