A boy is saved by a passerby just in time after falling into a river while throwing a stone.
The unidentified five-year-old was playing by the riverside in the village of Huishang in China when the incident happened earlier this month.
In CCTV footage, the boy can be seen walking along the riverbank and throwing a pebble into the water. The force he uses to throw the stone propels him forwards, causing him to lose his footing.
The youngster tumbles over the top of a low wall and drops into the gushing water.
The video shows the little boy struggling to keep his head above water.
A female relative can be seen surveying the riverside in search of the boy then she spots him and immediately calls for help.
Villagers passing by the river jump into action and rush to the water’s edge, with one brave man jumping in to lift the child out of the water.
In the footage, the man is seen handing over the young boy to the crowd gathered at the river’s edge.
Reports indicate that the child and his two siblings were visiting their mom’s family home when the incident happened.
The little boy was stable after the incident but had reportedly suffered a nosebleed.
