A bronze chest filled with valuables worth more than $1 million (about R17m) has been found at an unknown spot in the Rocky Mountain wilderness in North America – a decade after it was hidden.

Famed art and antiquities collector Forrest Fenn says he hid the treasure to tempt people to get into the wilderness and give them a chance to go on adventures and search for riches, CNN reports.

The search recently ended when a poem in Fenn’s autobiography, The Thrill of the Chase, led someone to finally locate the precise spot.
