A brave traffic officer has been captured on film holding on for dear life to the bonnet of a car, preventing the driver from fleeing.
In the clip, Brigadier Eka Setiawa, from South Jakarta, Indonesia, can be seen lying on the bonnet as the car moves forward.
Speaking to local media, Eka explained the incident happened after the vehicle was found illegally parked on the pavement. When he asked the driver, a 54-year-old man identified as Tavipuddin, for his license and registration he refused to comply.
According to local media, the two men had an argument with the motorist claiming the traffic officer had no right to demand his documents or issue him a ticket.
“We told him, ‘Sir, if you don’t want your car to be towed, we will ticket you.’ But he didn’t want [to cooperate with us], even after we told him politely,” Eka said.
The motorist reportedly first tried to flee by reversing but hit a motorbike. The hero officer then launched himself onto the bonnet of the vehicle to stop the driver fleeing.
“I got on top of the car hood, then I was carried as far as 200 metres,” Eka added.
It’s unclear what charges the driver mmight be facing after the incident.
