Door of Hope is a child-care organisation in Johannesburg that gives abandoned children new hope with forever families.
A recent post on Twitter showing the cutest baby awaiting her new parents highlights the beginning of a new adventure for one of the abandoned children at the orphanage.
Nadene Grabham, operations director at Door of Hope, says the reaction to their post has been overwhelming.
“It touched many people’s hearts and the photo covers a magnitude of similar adoption events we celebrate at Door of Hope.”
The organisation’s social media pages have gained numerous followers since the tweet, which was captioned:
Excitement and nervousness as we wait for Forever Mommy and Daddy to arrive. Bye Bye Sweet Baby Girl. Your adventure with your family begins!
“ONE OF THE GREATEST TITLES IN THE WORLD IS PARENT, AND ONE OF THE BIGGEST BLESSINGS IN THE WORLD IS TO BE ONE." – JIM DEMINT
“The photo is one of many photos we took on adoption day but the two I shared on social media just shouted out to me how special it is for a family to be formed through adoption,” says Grabham, who’s in charge of Door of Hope’s social media.
The organisation has “baby bins” where people can leave unwanted babies safely and anonymously. Every month they receive about nine new little ones, including those left at police stations and hospitals.
This festive season is the perfect time to get into the spirit of giving as Door of Hope always welcome donations.
Consumables such as baby formula, baby cereal, nappies, bum cream, baby wipes and cleaning products are always needed, Grabham says.
