Sending their daughter off on a date with a man they barely know? A daunting experience for any dad.

One dad from Massachusetts, in the US, used technology to his advantage when he roped in the services of Ring, a video doorbell service that lets you answer the door from anywhere using your Apple or Android smartphone.

So while Pedro Lugo was at work, he digitally met his daughter Grace’s date, Jared, Fox News reports.

In the video, shared by Grace’s brother Pedro on Twitter, Jared nervously fidgets while his date’s father grills him.

“I can’t meet you personally because I’m at work,” the father starts.

He then brags, “I get to see your face, but you don’t get to see mine.”

Grace eventually interrupts the hilarious exchange as Pedro greets her with a loving, “Hello, my young daughter”.

He asks what movie they plan on watching, to which Jared replies Toy Story.

Pedro then wants to know what time they’ll return. Jared awkwardly responds that they should be home before 11pm.

“I heard 10.30pm,” Pedro sarcastically replies. “I’ll see you back at 10.30 then. Don’t be late and don’t let me look for you.”

Twitter users loved the three-minute clip, which racked up close to 29 000 likes and more than 6 000 retweets.

“This made my entire day. I want your dad to adopt me,” one user commented.

While another added: “I’m #teamdad right now. Her pops made me proud.”

And for those wondering – Grace and Jared are doing just fine.

“Ya’ll my ginger & I are doing good [sic],” she reassured her followers.
