New true-crime show Murder Wall on CBS Justice (DStv channel 170) allows you to be the detective. All you have to do is follow the clues . . .

It’s a crime that mystified the Las Vegas police force. Multimillionaire real-estate agent Ronald Rudin was found dead in the middle of the desert, his skull riddled with bullets. Who hated him enough to kill him so brutally?

This is just one of the crimes you can help solve in Murder Wall. Each episode presents you with one of the most baffling, intriguing homicides the police have ever had to face, and it must be solved.

Charting each case will be the murder wall, that board you’ve seen on all good crime shows. It’s what detectives use to map the progress of the investigation, adding each piece of evidence to the wall, be it a name, photo, fingerprint or any other bit of evidence, all linked together according to relevance by tape.

Step by step, the investigation will move forward, allowing you to make your own projections and assumptions. Are the police getting it right, or would you be looking in another direction?

Some of the other cases that feature this season include a model whose dismembered body was found in a canal in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, a 14-year-old girl who was murdered and stomped on, and a young mother shot and killed in her own bed.

Don’t expect the investigations to be straightforward. Along the way, you’ll be subjected to twists, turns and false leads and you’ll have to do some truly inspired detective work. Never forget – those first 48 hours are critical!

Following the developments as an armchair detective, you’ll realise it isn’t easy solving cases – and how many perpetrators would get away if it weren’t for the quick-thinking, clever and astute police officers always on the case.

Watch Murder Wall on Sundays on CBS Justice (DStv channel 170), starting on 11 October at 19:00
