Hair To The Throne is HONEY’s brand-new hairstyling competition featuring some of Africa’s hottest, up and coming stylists. The competition premieres on Monday 11 March at 4:00 PM on DStv 173. The show is hosted by Nigerian supermodel, Adeola Ariyo. “The most exciting part for me is seeing what creations the contestants come up with,” she says. “Seeing the way they transform their models as well is quite lovely.”

The show’s resident judge is Hair Creative, Nikiwe Dlova. The artist and creative has had her work featured in international projects such as Beyonce’s Black Is King film. “Observing how the hair designers interpret every challenge given to them and adding their own individuality to it is exciting,” Dlova says. “That's how we get to know each person throughout the show. I enjoy seeing how they react to different twists we throw at them.”

Each week the contestants face dynamic challenges that they must execute in the best way they know how. In the end, the winner walks away with a mega prize hamper and the title of Hair To The Throne champion.

This season’s contestants consist of: Marcia Pedro (22, Angolan), Busisiwe Sibisi (27, South African), Godfrey D. Silva (27, South African-American), Zintle Natasha Kati (20, South African), Preciate Tatenda Chitoria (29, Zimbabwean), Uyanda Kiva (22, South African), Unathi Maboso (29, South African), Landiwe Mahlangu (24, South African).

“Our style shows are an extremely important part of the channel,” says Zinzi Velelo, HONEY’s Head of Content. “Between Battle of the Ankara and Hair to the Throne we get to explore and celebrate vibrant young Africans who are modern, cool and talented.”

Hair To The Throne premieres on Monday 11 April at 4:00 PM (CAT) on #HoneyDStv173
