Soledad Burgos has had a life filled with difficulty. Blinded at a young age, she causes the death of her brother – at least her mother Delfina blames her for it and can never forgive Soledad. She may not be able to see, but Soledad has been gifted with something else – a wonderful singing talent. As she grows older, she blossoms into a beautiful young woman who wants nothing more than to become a professional Porro singer and share her voice with the world. Jealous and torn up with anger at her daughter, Delfina is determined to prevent this ever happening.
It’s only when Soledad meets the handsome, wealthy Vincente that it seems her life might change. He’s determined to help her, and has fallen deeply in love. Unfortunately, he too has evil relatives that are planning his downfall to steal his fortune – and he’s too gullible to outwit their cunning. Will these two young lovers ever find happiness together? Or will their malicious families succeed in keeping them apart?
Why should I watch it?
It’s the perfect escapism for the December holidays, and if you think you have problems with your relatives, wait until you see what Soledad and Vincente are up against. The two characters embody what it means to rise above adversity – in so many ways. It’s a beautiful, if troubled, love story, but at the same time also shines the light on the fallibility of humans, and how sometimes we all make the wrong decisions. You’ll be rooting for these two right until the end though – and you won’t want to miss a single episode.
