She’s a party planner by profession so when it comes to celebrations and decorations Kate Middleton’s mother knows what she’s doing.
And in a recent Instagram post she revealed what she'll be introducing into her home for her young grandchildren over Christmas - Scandinavian-style festive gnomes.
“I’m going to need a few of these cheeky chaps this December to hide around the house and make my grandchildren laugh,” the 66-year-old wrote alongside an image of the cute chaps or “Tomte” as they’re called in Sweden.
“As much as I love immaculate decorations, we can't be too serious at Christmas!” she added.
She and husband Michael (72) have five grandkids: Kate and Prince William’s brood – Prince George (8), Princess Charlotte (6) and Prince Louis (3) – plus her younger daughter Pippa’s kids with her financier husband James Matthews – Arthur (3) and daughter Grace born in March.
Carole previously revealed she loves to fill her Bucklebury manor home with as many Christmas trees as she can including one in each of her grandchildren’s rooms so they “can decorate it themselves”, she told The Telegraph in 2019.
Clearly an experienced grandmother, she also ensures she keeps the kids busy on Christmas Day with plenty of small stocking fillers.
“I find that the smallest present can be the one that gives the most enjoyment and entertainment to children,” she wrote on an Instagram post last year, adding that Kate, Pippa, and their younger brother James, who got married this year, loved playing with figurines growing up.
“I remember that when they were young, my children found flexi-figures like these totally absorbing,” she wrote alongside an image of a wooden Santa in traditional wear.
