They may be separated by an ocean but thanks to modern technology Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor has already met her famous great-grandmother.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly introduced their newborn daughter to Her Majesty via a video call shortly after her birth on Friday 4 June in Santa Barbara, California.

“They were very excited and couldn't wait to share that their daughter had arrived,” a source told People.

The tot’s introduction to the 95-year-old monarch comes after royal experts claimed Harry and Meghan told the queen they were considering naming their daughter after her – but didn't ask for permission.

Lilibet is the name Her Majesty gave herself as a young child when she couldn’t pronounce her own name, Elizabeth, properly.

It appears Harry and his grandmother are still in communication despite the many public attacks he’s launched on the royal family lately.

Royal author Nigel Cawthorne believes the couple are aiming for their daughter to meet the queen in person as soon as travel restrictions relax.

“Meghan and Harry will be keeping a close eye on when the US moves on to the UK’s green list,” he says. “They want to take Lili and her brother, Archie, to Britain to visit the queen and Prince Charles as soon as ordinary travel between California and England is restored.

“It has been a long time that they have seen each other in a joyful context and no doubt both sides will keenly look forward to it.”

Meanwhile the new addition to the Sussex family is settling in well in the Montecito mansion Harry and Meghan bought last year.

“This baby solidifies that they are creating roots here in the States.”

“Lili completes their family and they’re so happy,” a close friend told People.

The couple is said to be on 20 weeks paid parental leave from their Archewell Foundation and will use the next few months to spend time with their daughter.
