Princess Eugenie recently hailed US songbird Selena Gomez as “super cool” for displaying her kidney transplant scar in a swimsuit photo on Instagram.
Re-sharing the image in an Instagram story, the 30-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson wrote, “I thought this was super cool of Selena Gomez to show she's confident of who she is and what she went through after finding it difficult to show her scar.”
Selena (28) had the organ transplant in 2017 and has since admitted to battling with her appearance since, always opting to cover up her scar.
But she’s now done with hiding it and says she’s “confident in who she is and what she’s been through”.
Eugenie, who’s expecting her first child with husband Jack Brooksbank, praised the Ice Cream singer for her stand, adding, “Let’s be proud of our uniqueness.”
At her wedding in 2018, the Queen’s granddaughter made a point of revealing her scoliosis scar in her backless wedding dress.
The condition is marked by a sideways curve of the spine that develops just before puberty. Eugenie had corrective surgery when she was 12.
Speaking about her decision to show off her scar in her wedding dress she said, “I believe scars tell a story about your past and your future and it’s a way of getting rid of a taboo.”In June this year she posted another photo of her scar to mark Scoliosis Awareness Day, saying she wanted to “encourage anyone out there who’s gone through something similar to share theirs with me”.
