It was a fun-filled Easter weekend for Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco’s twins.

Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella were surprise guests at a Ukrainian circus show at the Princess Grace Theatre in Monaco.

The siblings attended the event with their aunt, Princess Stéphanie, and her daughters, Pauline Ducruet (27) and Camille Gottlieb (23).

Princess Stéphanie (57) decided to host the troupe, which includes young Ukrainians who had to flee the embattled cities of Kharkiv and Kyiv amid the Russian invasion and are now training in Hungary as refugees.

Alongside their aunt, who also joined the circus in 2001 after falling in love with a Swiss elephant trainer, the twins were wowed by performers swinging on the trapeze, juggling rings and twirling at great heights on aerial silks.

The 57-year-old Monégasque royal and her elder sister, Princess Caroline, have in recent months attended several royal events with the twins while their mother was away at a clinic outside of the principality, receiving treatment for “exhaustion, both emotional and physical”.

Charlene (44) was reunited with her husband and children in March and seemed in good spirits during an Easter photoshoot which was shared on social media, marking the first time she’s been seen with her children since November.

Last month, the palace issued a statement that confirmed that the former Olympic swimmer would continue her “convalescence in the principality with her husband and her children by her side”.

The princess, the press statement concludes, “still needs peace and calm”.

“The Princely Couple therefore asks that their private life and family environment continue to be respected.”
