After five days in isolation after arriving in the UK from California, Harry made a special visit to the WellChild UK children’s charity of which he’s the patron.

On Wednesday – the day before he and William unveiled a new statue of their mother, Princess Diana at Kensington Palace – the 36-year-old duke attended a private garden party at Kew Gardens, London, where his famous charm was on full display.

The organisation works to make it possible for children with special needs to be cared for at home instead of in hospital and celebrates the inspirational qualities of the kids, as well as those who go the extra mile to make a difference to their lives.

“The challenges that many have faced through Covid have made hearing and recognising their stories more important than ever,” WellChild’s website says.

Harry chatted with young winners of this year’s WellChild Awards and heard how the past 18 months had been for them and their families and what support they’d received from the organisation.

In a statement, Harry said he “could not be prouder” to meet this year’s honourees and thanked the nurses and doctors “for all they do and to celebrate these amazing families”.

He also spoke about how becoming a father had strengthened his relationship with the charity.

“Since becoming patron of WellChild in 2007, this organisation and the people within it have had an extraordinarily special place in my heart. I wasn’t a father at the time and yet the stories of these children and parents transcended that.

“I didn’t need to be a dad to feel the impact of this invaluable work. Now as a father of two I feel all the more connected, inspired and in awe of the resilience of these families, who power through indescribable challenges with the support of WellChild.”

Harry was joined at the event by British singer Ed Sheeran (30), who he bonded with over fatherhood.

He reportedly told the Shape of You hitmaker that two kids are “a juggle” when Ed asked him how was he managing.

Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their second child, daughter Lilibet Diana, last month while Ed welcomed his first child last year, a baby girl named Lyra Antarctica.

According to Hello! magazine, while speaking to another guest later on, Harry dished up more details about his kids. “We’ve been lucky so far, Lili is very chilled and seems happy to just sit there while Archie [their two-year-old son] is running around like crazy.”

This isn’t the first time Harry and Ed have met. They previously filmed a video for World Mental Health Day in October 2019.
