Seems there isn’t a week that goes by without some sort of royal drama – and this time it’s Peter Phillips, the queen’s oldest grandchild, who is raising eyebrows.
The son of Princess Anne was quizzed by police in Scotland over the weekend after locals queried why he was in the country during lockdown.
And by all accounts it’s because of love.
Peter (43) reportedly drove 740km from his home in Gloucestershire, UK, to visit what appears to be a new love interest in the village of St Cyrus, Aberdeenshire.
Lindsay Wallace (40), a separated mom of two, is reportedly an old friend of Peter’s sister, Zara, and attended her wedding to Mike Tindall in 2011.
Both women and Peter attended the posh Scottish private school Gordonstoun.
Peter is said to be “besotted” by the attractive blonde, who is the daughter of a wealthy oil tycoon.
But unfortunately for him his visit did not sit well with eagle-eyed locals, who reported him to the local police after spotting his car in Lindsay’s driveway.
After police confronted Peter, they decided he was not in breach of any Covid-19 lockdown rules (which ban non-essential travel) after he explained he was on a business trip.
A spokesperson for Peter, a marketing consultant, said he had travelled on business with his company, XL Medical, which provides rapid Covid-19 tests.
“We do not comment on details or circumstances of Mr Phillips’ accommodation when travelling on business,” he added.
Locals did not appear to buy the excuse.
It seems wrong he has travelled here from England, whatever the circumstances,” one local grumbled. “Scotland is closed and if you flew here you would have to quarantine for 10 days.”
Peter is back on the singles market after separating from his Canadian wife, Autumn (41), in February last year after a decade of marriage.
Despite their split and plans to divorce, they have remained in the family home on his mother’s Gatcombe Park with their two children, Savannah (10) and Isla (9), due to the pandemic.
