Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has revealed her unusual hobby of collecting royal memorabilia.
The 74-year-old’s keen eye for these items was on display during Tuesday’s visit to Emmaus Mossley Homelessness Charity in Manchester, where she was able to spot a commemorative mug made in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s 1977 silver jubilee (marking her 25th year on the throne) for the bargain price of just £1,50 (R30).
“I see you’ve got a nice jubilee mug. I am going to buy that! I have a whole collection, believe it or not,” she announced.
From as far back as 2006, the duchess has served as patron to the charity, which has so far provided more than 800 homeless people with shelter, work and training.

Her visit included attending a pre-Platinum Jubilee Big Lunch, part of the official celebrations for the queen’s 70th year on the throne. Camilla also met charity volunteers and the mug wasn’t the only item that caught her eye.
While touring a bric-a-brac section where used items are sold to raise funds for underprivileged families, she appeared impressed by several other items.
“There’s a really nice teapot here for anyone who collects them,” she said to volunteers.
“I wish I had a bit more time here. It’s a great place to get presents if you have the time,” she added.
When she’s not hunting for royal artefacts, you'll often find Camilla going through her paces as a ballet dancer.
“I got a group of ancient friends together and the four of us sort of clatter around, and when we’re in London we do it once a week and it makes all the difference,” she said in a 2020 interview.
“I thought it was going to be very funny and I was going to laugh at everybody toppling over next door to me, but I think we concentrate so hard we don’t even know what our friend next door is doing,” she adds.
