She cracked jokes, hobnobbed with Danish royalty and talked about how broody she’s feeling – in short, the Duchess of Cambridge was in top form during her solo royal visit to Denmark.
It was her first official overseas trip since 2020 and her first solo tour since her visit to Luxembourg five years ago, and Kate (40) seemed to be relishing the opportunity to spread her wings.
The mom of three jetted into the Danish capital, Copenhagen, for a whirlwind two-day visit on behalf of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which she works closely with back home in the UK.
Kate charmed everyone she encountered with her down-to-earth, fun nature as she visited various childhood development projects.
Praising the country’s approach to the subject, she tweeted, “Denmark is a beacon of best practice in its approach to the early years, with a culture which prioritises the best start in life.”
The duchess also paid a visit to the University of Copenhagen to meet officials from the Centre for Early Intervention and Family Studies, attended a museum, and stopped by the Lego Foundation PlayLab where she had great fun going down a kids’ slide.
She made sure to pay her royal dues too, meeting up with Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, who’s celebrating her 50th year on the throne, and having lunch with Crown Princess Mary, whom she also accompanied to a women’s crisis centre.
During a visit to the Stenurten Forest Kindergarten, Kate admitted to being “very broody”.
“William always worries about me meeting under one-year-olds. I come home saying, ‘Let’s have another one,’” she said.
Britain’s future queen is already mom to Prince George (8), Princess Charlotte (6) and Prince Louis (3).
Last month, when a woman at the Clitheroe Community Hospital in Lancashire allowed Kate to hold her baby, William teased her by saying, “Don’t give my wife any more ideas!”
