Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation was an exciting occasion in history but it seems four-year-old Prince Charles wasn’t as taken with the festivities.
The Royal Collection Trust marked the 66th anniversary of the queen’s coronation with a throwback photo that featured a bored looking Prince Charles, Marie Claire reports.
“On this day in 1953 the queen’s coronation took place,” the caption read.
“This photograph shows a young Prince Charles standing between his grandmother (Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother) and aunt (Princess Margaret).”
The black and white snap is nearly identical to a photo captured of Charles’ grandson, Prince George, in 2017 at the annual Trooping the Colour parade in honour of the queen’s birthday.
Users were quick to comment on the post, with some joking that Prince Charles was “still waiting” for his turn to reign.
“Prince Charles . . . this could take a while,” another joked.
The royal family also celebrated the special anniversary on Instagram with a photo of the queen smiling as her husband Philip proudly looked on.
Queen Elizabeth’s coronation was the first ever to be televised and had 2,7 million viewers in the UK alone.
