After Amy* met Antonio* in university in the US, sparks flew between them and in a space of just three months of dating they were engaged, The Sun reports.

According to Amy, they decided to wait for marriage before getting intimate.

But after tying the knot, their marriage took a rather drastic turn when things in the bedroom didn’t work out as planned.

“Our wedding night sex was neither amazing nor worth the wait. Our married sex life wasn’t so hot either,” she wrote on Mama Mia.

Despite several attempts to be physically intimate, nothing seemed to work.

“It’s not like my husband and I never tried to have sex. We did and it was incredibly painful. After a while, all that trying felt really awful to me,” Amy explained.

“In my eyes, I was this constant disappointment. The ‘holdup’ that prevented us from ever consummating our marriage.”

Then one day, Antonio left Amy a note on a paper plate in their residential mailbox, saying he no longer wanted to be with her.

“A paper plate message stuck in the mailbox was just about the worst way he could’ve ended things,” she adds.

The message said Antonio had moved on – with his high school sweetheart – and had taken the decision to absolve their union.

“It was done so hastily and without care that I wound up taking the end of our marriage much harder than I likely would’ve if we’d simply talked things out,” Amy wrote.

It took her 17 years to recover from the heartbreak of her marriage which to this day has made it hard for her to trust men she’s dated in the past, she said.
