Injector and lash artist, Steffi Mulic (20) from Stockholm, Sweden, grew up loving the Bratz doll look and since her mother and aunt were both in the beauty and fashion industry, she was introduced to the cosmetic surgery world at the tender age of 13.
Since then she began her journey to achieve the perfect Bratz look and has spent more than £1,200 (R27 000) a month since she was 17 on lip injections to maintain her pout.
But she’s had to cancel her appointments due to the coronavirus lockdown and she couldn’t continue without her regular lip-filler fix. So she trained to inject her own lips and achieved her certificate on 31 March. Since then she has been self-injecting once a week.
On 6 April, she was sleeping when she almost suffocated due to her swollen lips. But the incident didn’t scare her off – she says every time she can’t breathe, she “loves it” as she feels it means that her goal of becoming a Bratz doll is getting closer.
Once the coronavirus pandemic is over, Steffi plans to have breast and butt implants, rib removal surgery, cheek fillers, permanent eye-colour change to purple and a surgery to transform her feet to look identical to Barbie’s.
“When I was growing up, my mum and my auntie worked in beauty so it was never strange to me,” Steffi said.
“When I was seven to eight years old, I told my mum, ‘I’m going to have surgery to look Asian’. When she told me I couldn’t, I cried and cried. But later, I found the doll look. I got to have fillers when I was thirteen years old.
“I have a goal to look exactly like a Bratz doll – they fascinate me. I’ve been playing with my Bratz dolls since I was five years old, so I always thought they were cool and beautiful, not lame like Barbie. They’re more plastic and have big lips.
“I’ll never let a pandemic – or anything – affect my goal or pause my transformation. I do my lips at home corona-free.
“To achieve the Bratz doll really-big-lips look, I went to beauty school so I could get my certificate to inject myself from March. I’ve done it every week since – it’s no limit now. Fantastic.
“I can’t breathe through my nose, my lips are hard to move, and I can’t close them sometimes. But for me it’s 100% worth it.
“My nose is so little that I can only breathe through my mouth. So while I was asleep, my lips were so swollen that I couldn’t get any air in at all. I had to put my head in the freezer so as not to die! It was dangerous but worth it.
“I love it when I can’t breathe because that means I’ve come a long way. And is it worth my life? My answer is it’s my whole life.”
Steffi won’t stop there to achieve her ideal look; she plans on getting more surgery.
“My doctors think it’s good because I know what I want, and they know I’ve this goal to have a career and look like this – a full-time Bratz doll.
“I plan to get more surgery done in the future, including two butt and breast implants, rib removal, hairline lowering treatment, a lip lift, liposuction on my arms and inner thighs, cheek implants, eye-colour change to purple, Barbie foot surgery to make my feet look like Barbie’s, chin implants and more and more lip fillers.
“I want to spread the message that you should do whatever you want, even if no one understands you. If you feel it’s right, then it is.”
