Emily Blunt (37) and John Krasinski (41), who celebrate 12 years together this year – practically a lifetime in Hollywood – are here to remind the world that if you can make it through a global pandemic and quarantine with your significant other, you can survive just about anything.
"Having John's support is everything because we are each other's confidant,” Emily gushed in a recent interview with People magazine. “That shared understanding has really been a very vital anchor for me.”
The pair, who are usually pretty private, have been married for 10 years and have two daughters, Hazel (6) and Violet (4).
"Being around little ones during the pandemic was such a saving grace because they would just be bouncing around the house, and your job is to protect them from what is happening and make sure their life remains joyful. That was a pretty great lifeline for John and me during the pandemic, for sure," the Mary Poppins Returns star said.
The couple, who recently worked together on A Quiet Place II, a sequel to the 2018 sci-fi horror movie set to be released next year, say they made it through months of quarantine bingeing on series like The Crown and cooking together.
Here’s a look back at their relationship.
John, best known for his roles in The Office and Jack Ryan, told Ellen DeGeneres that he knew Emily was the one back in 2008, after they were introduced by a mutual friend.
"It was one of those things where I wasn't really looking for a relationship and I was thinking I'm going to take my time in LA," he said on the show. "Then I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, 'Oh, God, I think I'm going to fall in love with her'. As I shook her hand I went, 'I like you’.”
They were engaged a year later and married at a private ceremony in Lake Como, Italy, in 2010.
Their eldest daughter, Hazel, was born in 2014 and in 2016, they welcomed Violet.
John never holds back about his wife being the best. "She is without a doubt the most tremendous actress of our time in my opinion," he shared in an interview. "She is the most incredible partner in writing and directing and set designs. She just has such good ideas.”
Winning a Screen Actors Guild award last year for her role in A Quiet Place, in which the couple starred and John directed, the British actress also expressed her admiration for her hubby.
“I am going to share this completely with my husband, John Krasinski, because the entire experience of doing this with you has completely pierced my heart directly,” she said during her acceptance speech.
“She's unbelievable. The most talented, powerful, kindest person,” John said during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “She makes everyone around her better.”
Ah. Sweet, sweet love!
